Welcome to our blog!

Hello world!

We're so excited to begin a year of travelling, exploring, teaching and learning as we move to Melbourne, Australia where we’ll be working full time as supply teachers. In Australia, this is called a CRT (Casual Relief Teacher).

We first met in 2014 during the Queen's University orientation week when we were young and thought we knew everything about nothing (see photo below). Over the next five years, we became orientation leaders together and bonded over our shared love of teaching, poetry, photography and most importantly... food! As our time at Queen's came to a close, we looked ahead to our next adventure and decided that Australia was the place to be. After many late night Skype calls and endless cups of coffee at our local Panera cafe, we arranged work with Leading Out, an organization that helps teachers arrange work in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. We would have been lost without the help of our fearless guide Steve Lobodici and all of his help and support to get us ready for our big move on July 11th, 2018. Alas, here we are... just thirteen short days from departure.

Stay tuned to hear about what our packing and moving process has been like, what we’re most excited about and our first stop on the journey – Fiji. Here’s hoping we get an accent!

The purpose of this blog is to reflect on our experiences "down under" and share our ups and downs with the people we love most. We'd love for you to sign up using your email below so that you can receive updates about where we are, what we’re up to and what kinds of shenanigans we’ve gotten ourselves into this time. Knowing us the possibilities are endless! Please also leave us comments and stay in touch.
